The site selection for the two new ethanol plants have been narrowed down to Merrillville/Hobart corridor and the Crown Point/Lowell corridor. They are planning to announce the sites during the Lake County Solid Waste management radio how on WJOB on Monday. Given the amount of truck traffic and air pollution these plants will generate, I was surprised to see that any of these communities would want them.According to the article, the city councils of all these towns approve of the project.
What we're trying to do, we're trying to find a community that will welcome us. ... That was (Lake County Commissioner) Gerry Scheub's condition, that wherever we go they welcome us,"?said Powers, referring to the contract provision Scheub inserted that the local council give approval before Powers Energy builds a plant in the county.

Langbehn said the council members of the communities are "unanimously" supportive of the project, which could bring $1 million a year to the host community.

I bet they pollute less than the BP plant pollutes the air and water

Lets not forget about US Steel and its contaminated water as well
