Among the programs affected are grants that help municipalities start up or expand recycling programs for hazardous waste, such as batteries; grants that help conserve water and energy; grants for equipment such as shredders, leaf vacuums, chippers, curbside vehicles, and recycling containers; educational efforts, such as promotion, advertising and training; and grants and loans to help businesses with new recycling projects.
The grants fall under the Waste Tire, Recycling, Pollution Prevention, Public Education Promotion, Household Hazardous Waste programs, and Recycling Market and Development Program loans.
Mitch Daniels is still working from the old Republican playbook that maintains it is OK to save money by destroying the environment.He totally ignores the future cost of cleaning up the messes left by improper hazardous waste disposal. Good recycling programs save energy, cut down on waste and create jobs. This is a really bad decision by Mitch Daniels.
